French Empire Ormolu And Patinated Bronze Chariot Clock, Signed Courvoisier

A fine French Empire mantel clock, circa 1805–1815, signed Courvoisier à Paris. This elegant composition depicts a classical triumphal chariot drawn by two finely modelled horses, guided by a winged figure of Amor holding a torch, symbolising victory and enlightenment. Executed in finely chased and mercury-gilded bronze with contrasting patinated elements, the clock demonstrates a high level of craftsmanship typical of Parisian workshops of the Empire period. The horses retain their original porcelain eyes, a rare and desirable detail that enhances both authenticity and refinement. The circular enamel dial, signed by the Parisian clockmaker Courvoisier, is set within a wheel-form case, harmoniously integrated into the dynamic sculptural composition. The rectangular base is adorned with finely cast military trophies and rests on elegant feet. A refined and decorative example of early 19th-century French horological art. Dimensions:
Height: 41 cm
Width: 50 cm
Depth: 15 cm
