Late 18th or early 19th century French school, Marine in the style of Lacroix de Marseille : Evening light on Fort Saint Jean at the exit of the old Port of Marseille. Oil on canvas presented in an Empire period gilt frame.

Beautiful painting with a nice light, well animated by several picturesque characters and boats. The buildings of Fort Saint Jean are easy to recognize.
