An important Carrara marble sculpture by Mathurin Moreau (1822–1912), depicting an allegorical winged female figure, traditionally identified as "Fame." The figure appears to emerge from sculpted clouds, conveying a strong sense of elevation, movement, and symbolic presence. This is a very rare marble execution of this allegorical subject in Mathurin Moreau's oeuvre, as this type of composition was most often executed in bronze. The delicate carving of the wings, the subtle inclination of the head, and the fluid treatment of the anatomy testify to the sculptor's mastery and sensitivity to movement.
