Rachel-Lucy Hautot (1882–1935) A fine Orientalist sculpture in Carrara marble and gilt bronze, depicting an Eastern man draped in a long robe and holding a drum.
Signed Hautot and numbered 27 on the base.
French work, circa 1915–1925. Rachel-Lucy Hautot studied under Laurent Marqueste at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and won the Prix de Tunisie in 1912. Her stay in North Africa deeply influenced her work, inspiring these refined Orientalist compositions, remarkable for their serene expression and exquisite craftsmanship. Materials: Carrara marble, gilt bronze, veined marble base
