Hélène Le Roy d'Etiolles (1864-1939). Portrait of a Young Girl Dressed as a Sidesaddler. Oil on canvas, signed lower right "He le Roy d'Etiolles," late 19th century.
A great portraitist, the French painter perfectly captures the essence of this unnamed young woman, whose deep black eyes gaze at us with a slightly snobbish expression. Dressed as a sidesaddler with a plumed hat, the black that pervades the canvas is toned down by the perfect white of the lace collar and the passionate red of the rose in her hair.
This beautiful painting is framed in a wonderful late 19th-century giltwood frame and is ready to hang on the wall.
