Louis XV period work

Small sloping desk stamped by Mathieu Criaerd in violet wood marquetry with geometric decorations and curved on all sides.

Opening with a flap lined internally with gilded leather, thus forming a surface used as a writing desk, it reveals a tier composed of two interior drawers in rectangular marquetry of satin wood.
The belt opens with two drawers on the front and the arched legs are connected by a crotch box with two side drawers.
Ornamentation in gilded bronze simply for the keyholes and the enveloping shoes.

Diamond curling marquetry on the sides, front and top of the furniture, including tighter grid marquetry for the crotch top and the leather reverse front.
Curling marquetry cut into the sole on the upper parts of the sides.

This very beautiful piece of furniture, whose style is well known to Criaerd and Migeon, is here stamped by Mr. Criaerd under one of the front drawers and an inventory number is present under one of the upper drawers. Its main feature is the presence of the spacer box, which is quite unique in the designs of speed bump offices.

It is represented in “French furniture of the 18th century” by Pierre Kelljberg, éditions de l'amateur 2008, p 247 n° b. It was sold on December 17, 1983 in Paris.
