Régence Console

The Régence antique console is most often associated with remarkable wooden openwork decoration. Its flared plateau exchanges wood to adopt marble. It rests on two legs or four legs joined by a finely carved crossbar. The Régence console is crafted of natural wood or gilded wood for the most luxurious designs. The wood of its crossbars and crosspiece features very rich carving.

The legs of the Régence console are curved and end in a foot. Some models are lightened by the Louis XV deer hoof. The motifs of choice in the Régence style are: female masks, openwork seashells, batwings, sunflowers, monkeys, pod leaves and fantastical characters such as dragons and chimeras. The espagnolette appears: the head of a smiling woman coiffed with a diadem, a palmette or feathers.
