This superb console table in carved and gilded wood adopts a scalloped shape and a decoration of the highest quality of execution, typical of the carpenters of the Regency period.
The belt is composed in its center of a large openwork medallion, encircled by a beaded frieze, underlined by an inverted shell and framed by volutes of very finely carved acanthus leaves.
On either side, along the belt, friezes of palmettes and scrolls are defined on a background of crosspieces.
They continue on each side in a very graceful curve and openwork foliage blooms. The base is also of the most beautiful decorative effect.
Very finely carved it is decorated with grotesque heads on the uprights, with a crown of long palmettes framed by two large beaded friezes with scrolls.
These heads with mischievous faces are highlighted by a long beard that descends in a V ending in a pearl frieze on a background of chiseled linear decoration.
Very scalloped, these feet are connected at the bottom by a crosspiece patterned spacer, decorated in its center with a flowered and pearled palmette.
It rises from the center, at the back, by a wall foot decorated with a large flower medallion, adorned on both sides with scrolls on a background of crosspiece and acanthus leaf.
The feet with square capitals end with spinning top feet.
It is topped with a very curved Aleppo breccia marble top on three sides, with a double-grooved corbin beak.
This remarkable work of sculpture, the abundance of the decoration and the great respect for symmetry make this console a true masterpiece of the genre.
