This remarkable sculpture depicts a young Eastern woman wearing an elegant draped headdress, in a graceful pose, her face slightly turned. The delicacy of her features, her downcast gaze, and her subtle smile lend the work an expression marked by gentleness and serenity. The work stands out for the high quality of its modeling and the precision of its chiseling. The delicate rendering of the hair, the natural modeling of the neck and shoulders, and the generous folds of the headdress attest to remarkable artistic mastery. The bronze features a superb reddish-brown patina with warm undertones. The front of the garment is adorned with a decorative motif embellished with red and green stones, adding an elegant touch of color to the composition. The bust rests on a beautiful, molded base of veined reddish-brown marble, harmoniously emphasizing its monumental character. The sculpture bears the signature “R. Colombo” on the shoulders, as well as the inscription “Paris 1884”.
