Lost-wax bronze by Ary Bitter (1883–1973), cast by Susse Frères, Paris, depicting the goddess Diana, nude, asleep and reclining beside her two greyhounds and her bow. The composition and patina are very beautiful, and the finesse of execution is superb.
The greyhounds appear alert and look in the same direction, while the sleeping Diana holds her bow in her hand.
The base bears the inscriptions “Ary Bitter”, “Susse Frères Editeurs Paris”, and “Cire perdue”.
Minor damage to the tip of the bow extending beyond the base.
