Small covered baluster-shaped jug or pitcher made of Moustiers earthenware, decorated in shades of blue with an allegory of a river depicting a woman holding a jar from which water flows, surrounded by reeds within a rocaille cartouche framed by lambrequin motifs in the style of Jean Bérain. Clérissy Manufactory, first half of the 18th century.
Height: 15 cm.
Two chips on the rim of the lid and one on the neck, which has been repaired.
This piece was featured in the 1932 retrospective exhibition of French earthenware at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
