Decor by Maurice GENSOLI (1892–1972).
Large covered baluster-shaped vase in polychrome enamelled porcelain, decorated with geometric patterns featuring stylised vegetal motifs.
“Rapin No. 10” model, a shape designed by Henri Rapin in 1925.
The composition is based on the repetition and arrangement of forms, creating a structured decorative pattern that follows the curves of the body. The enamel tones and stylisation of the vegetal elements are characteristic of the Art Deco decorative vocabulary.
The vase bears the stamp of the Sèvres National Manufactory, together with the date letter “b”, corresponding to the year 1929.
Signed Maurice Gensoli beneath the base.
This piece illustrates the evolution of the decorative arts at the Sèvres Manufactory during the interwar period, marked by the renewal of porcelain shapes and decorative designs.
