Faenza majolica crespina with an “a quartieri” design, circa 1535–45

A contoured, molded crespina on a pedestal, made of Faenza majolica with a polychrome “a quartieri” decoration featuring, in the center, a seated man in a landscape; floral motifs on a blue background on the wing and the base; and stylized scrollwork on the reverse.
Attributed to Baldassare Manara, circa 1535–1545. 16th century.
Diameter: 29 cm; Height: 6.3 to 7 cm.
Crack repaired at the 11 o’clock position, small chip at the 3 o’clock position, and a missing section of glaze that has been repaired.
