Fidelys Schey (d. 1788), a cabinetmaker originally from Baden, Switzerland, opened his workshop in Paris on Rue du Faubourg Saint Antoine.
Despite the brevity of his career, his output was considerable. He created furniture in the Transition and especially Louis XVI styles, primarily in mahogany decorated with bronze or copper cords.
He was particularly fond of musical motifs, which are found on most of his chests of drawers and numerous roll-top desks.
A detailed inventory of his works, compiled after his death by colleagues Martin Ohneberg and Jean Caumont, is available, listing over 500 pieces.
