Offered by Mora Antiques
An important pair of finely chased and gilt bronze table candlesticks, dating from the Restoration period, early 19th century. The slender shafts, partially fluted, are richly decorated with palmettes, scrolling foliage and honeysuckle motifs, characteristic of the late neoclassical decorative vocabulary.
The nozzles are adorned with an elegant alternation of palmettes and finely detailed floral motifs, enhancing the overall decorative balance. The broad circular bases provide stability and are embellished with acanthus leaves, palmettes, twisted fluting and waterleaf motifs, reflecting a high level of craftsmanship.
The quality of the chasing and the richness of the gilding give this pair a strong decorative presence while maintaining refined proportions.
