Elegant pair of gilded and patinated bronze cassolettes, Empire period, early 19th century. Each piece consists of a bowl resting on three finely chased winged sphinxes, treated in a classical vocabulary of great craftsmanship. The cylindrical shaft is adorned with sconces decorated with antique symbols, including stars, crescents and winged figures, characteristic of the neoclassical and Egyptian taste typical of the Empire period. The base consists of a stepped circular plinth, enriched with foliate friezes and finely worked decoration. One of the cassolettes has an openwork lid, indicating its original function as a perfume burner. The ensemble is distinguished by the balance of its proportions, the finesse of its chasing and the harmonious contrast between gilded and patinated bronze. Dimensions Height: 28 cm
