Large Régence period commode, known as “à la Cressent”, in amaranth veneer marquetry with vertical grain, occasionally found in the productions of Cressent, 18th century.
Stencil signature under the marble (see last photo).
The façade opens with 5 drawers in 2 rows, without crossbar.
On this commode, one clearly recognizes the typical bronze mounts of Cressent, the shape of its four doe-shaped feet, its pine-dominated carcass, and its generous dimensions.
Very rich ornamentation in gilt bronzes, entirely regilded with ormolu.
Its original marble top is a violet breccia with bec-de-corbin moulding all around.
Dimensions: 134 cm wide, 52 cm deep, 82 cm high.
French polish finished in the traditional way.
The piece is in very good condition.
