Louis Majorelle - Gilded Bronze And Marquetry Lady's Desk

Rare half-moon shaped lady's desk opening with a drawer in the front and decorated with a small step. Mahogany and marquetry decorated with water lilies. It is embellished with chased and gilded bronzes in the form of scolopendra leaves which underline the uprights and the hooves. Superb model, fully restored and stamp varnished. Very beautiful shape and movement typical of Majorelle's most prestigious works under the Art Nouveau period. Worked around 1901. Signature on the top ‘Majorelle Nancy’ pyrogravé.
