Pair Of Large Porcelain Vases From Paris XIXth

These important and vases belong to the rare spectacular production of the workshops of Paris. The shape is inspired by the antique, with a wide base and a bulbous body. The background is matt black, guilloché gilding rings with agate adorn the neck and base. Ancient battle scenes as well as warriors in shiny enamel on the black background are of astonishing quality. The two handles with the complex design (nails, acanthus, days ...) are gilded and in a lapi lazuli tone. A frieze of oak branches surround the collar. It is probably a commissioned job, which although audacious is not kitsch, the quality of the workmanship remaining excellent. Note the technique of the scenes highlighted by a clean black line and thin as a feather.

Almost perfect condition, a small old break in a handle without lack and invisible, and dullness of age on the black background.

Dimensions: height: 54 cm, base diameter: 22 cm.
