Cylinder desk in mahogany and mahogany veneer, it opens with four drawers, one double with a locker and a chest in the lower part, in the center two lateral pulls and a cylinder discovering three small drawers and a sliding tray lined with leather, three drawers in the upper part, It is topped with a white marble top with gallery and rests on four tapered legs with rudent flutes, very rich original chased and gilded bronze trim, it has retained its cloverleaf locks and double bolt and two keys, very beautiful Parisian work of the Louis XVI period attributed to Fidelys Schey.
This desk is all faces, the richness of the bronzes, the double bolt locks, the choice of the flamed mahogany veneers, everything indicates a work of great quality for a specific order. A similar cylinder desk stamped SCHEY was sold at L'hôtel Drouot on July 17, 2020.
Fidelys SCHEY (-1788), received master on February 5, 1777 and established rue du faubourg Saint Antoine, his production included Transitional and mainly Louis XVI furniture of good workmanship, but he was also capable of executing furniture of superior quality comparable to the best craftsmen of his time, as shown by this desk.
