Fee des Merry or Fairy of the - L. Madrassi (1848-1919)

Bronze sculpture with brown patina "Fée des mers" or "Fairy of the Seas" depicting a dancing female figure with butterfly wings twirling a drapery around her while looking at herself at a beautiful flower. She stands on a large shell and seems to fly away smiling. She is standing on a large shell. The bronze is signed MADRASSI. The statue stands on a marble base.

Luca MADRASSI (1848-1919) is a French sculptor of Italian descent. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris before joining Carrier-Belleuse's studio. Very imaginative, he exhibited at the Salon from 1979 and won numerous awards.

Period late 19th century, circa: 1900
Dimensions of the base: 130 x 45 x 40 cm. Marble base is 5 cm high.
