"Sanguine" on paper by Belgian painter and engraver Servais Detilleux (1874 - 1940)
Dimensions: 84 x 67 cm - Gilded frame with glass protection - Dated 1913 - Signed.
A pupil of Jean-François Portaels and Léon Brunin, he exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1914 onwards and obtained an honourable mention in 1922. Founder at the Salon of the Yser prize in homage to the Franco-Belgian fraternity during the First World War, he presented at the 1929 Salon the paintings Silent Prayer and Portrait of Mrs Léon Brunin and a plaster bust of the Pianist Jean Chastaing. He also won an honourable mention as an engraver.
