"Nature revealing itself before science" statue signed E. BARRIAS produced at the beginning of the twentieth century (circa 1902) cast iron stamp Susse Frères in Paris. Bronze with two patinas (medal, and matte gold) in beautiful original condition. Under the full title: nature (mysterious and veiled) revealing itself before science, this work foreshadowing the Art-New movement is among the most representative of the talent of this sculptor. Born in Paris, Louis Ernest Barrias (1841/1905) entered the School of Fine Arts in 1858, received numerous awards and distinctions, became a member of the institute and a professor at the School of Fine Arts. Louis Ernest Barrias, a major sculptor of his time, was commissioned for funerary and memorial monuments.
