A metamorphic bronze sculpture from Vienna consisting of two elements, created by Carl Kauba and signed under the pseudonym T. Curtis. Titled “The Treasure,” the work depicts a man digging with a shovel in search of hidden treasure, which turns out to be a nude female figure in gilded bronze concealed beneath a removable lid. Signed “T. Curtis” on the female figure. Early 20th century. Dimensions: height: 19 cm; width: 13 cm. Listed in Joseph Zobel’s catalog *Bronzes de Vienne*. Carl Kauba, born on August 13, 1865, in Vienna, Austria, worked in collaboration with Franz Bergman’s foundry, producing numerous commercial bronzes under the direction of this prestigious Viennese workshop.
