Portrait of very beautiful quality representing a young woman in a white dress in a bourgeois interior.
Signed lower left Court 1839.

It is a very bright paintings, the painter brings out this young woman cutting with the colors such as the red silk lining the armchair Louis XV.

Joseph Désiré Court had a special talent for portraiture. With the vogue attached to these works, student of Baron Gros, he is quickly recognized by his contemporaries such as King Louis-Philippe, his sister Ms. Adelaide, the King and the Queen of Denmark, Pope Pius IX, the Cardinal Prince de Cro, Mgr. Sibour, Marshal Soult, Marshal Pélissier, the first President Franck-Carré, & c.
He won the first prize of Rome in 1821.

Nowadays it is in many French museums, a portrait of a woman by Court has been exhibited at the Biennale des Antiquaires 2018.
