Fragment of a Nottingham alabaster panel depicting a man with a sword. Not easy to determine who this man is since there are very few clues to identify him. Could it be Emperor Maxentius from an upper right corner of a panel with the beheading of Saint Catherine (cf. Victoria & Albert Museum, Accession number A119B-1941, described in Cheetham on p.91 of “English Medieval Alabasters with a catalogue of the collection in the Victoria and Albert Museum”).
Dimensions (without stand): 14x8,5x4cm
