A mirror known as a “pare closes” mirror, consisting in its lower section of a large central mirror framed by thin beveled moldings, connected at the corners by spandrels of gilded brass and a gilded carved wooden molding known as “à la bérain”; it is framed by wide mirror panels, connected by four beautiful spandrels of carved and gilded wood featuring motifs of seashells and cornucopias. The mirror is topped by a triangular pediment decorated at its apex with a large shell overhanging an arch adorned with shells and large floral bouquets on the sides, set against a mirrored background. A French piece from the late Louis XIV period, featuring period gilding and mirrors.
