A pair of mirrors Georges III Neoclassical 18th century

A rare pair of gilded wooden mirrors with very fine carving, a characteristic example of the English George III Neoclassical style, directly influenced by the designs of architect Robert Adam.
The pediment is crowned by an antique vase or urn from which ears of wheat emerge, framed by delicate garlands of vine leaves and grapes suspended in festoons that cascade down the sides of the frame.
Classically oval in shape, the frame is molded and adorned with a frieze of refined ovals and a beaded frieze.
The base is embellished with a lamp base carved with acanthus leaf scrolls and stylized floral motifs.
Original mirrors, in perfect condition.
England, circa 1780.

Size in inches : Height 62 Width 27 and 28
