Our opinion:
Console tables with a side drawer were quite common in Provence, particularly those from the Fourques workshops, but chests of drawers with a single row of drawers designed to hold wig boxes remain extremely rare.
It is quite possible that this type of furniture was intended solely for a clientele from the magistracy.
With its large openwork shell and elegiac decoration, the model we are presenting is, to our knowledge, one of the finest examples.
