Old Masters paintings, 16th, 17th and 18th furnitures and works of art
This console table, crafted from finely carved wood and entirely gilded with gold leaf, is distinguished by its particularly elaborate relief decoration. Its openwork frieze is richly adorned with rocaille motifs such as scrolls, volutes, deeply chiselled acanthus leaves and stylised shells, arranged around a central protruding element that structures the entire composition. On either side, openwork crossbars reinforce the impression of lightness and refinement.
The piece rests on three curved legs, lavishly carved with cascading foliage, scrolls and rocaille motifs flowing with great fluidity along the uprights. The front leg is connected to the two rear legs by a crossbar that is also openwork and carved.
The top is made of yellow breccia marble, whose shades lend a rich colour palette and give the piece its distinctive character. Its scalloped edge precisely follows the sinuous lines of the band.
