18th & 19th centuries clocks and furntures
Pair of candlesticks in patinated and gilt bronze depicting winged cupids, each holding a drip pan and a torch.
The figures rest on square white marble bases enhanced with a gallery and small gilt bronze ball feet. The finesse of the putti's modeling, combined with the contrast between the brown patina and the mercury gilding, illustrates the Neoclassical taste of the Empire–Restoration period of the early 19th century.
French work of the 19th century, in the spirit of Parisian productions inspired by Empire models and the great bronziers of the early century.
A highly decorative pair displaying fine chasing quality and an elegant polychromy of bronze and marble.
