BELLONI (Serge), known as the Painter of Paris, painter.
(1925–2005).
He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts.
His works are exhibited in various national museums and in private collections around the world; paintings acquired by the City of Paris, the French State, the Musée Carnavalet in Paris, the Ca’ Pesaro Museum in Venice, etc.
He was decorated as Chevalier of Arts and Letters and of the National Order of Merit. First Prize for Painting in Versailles (1949), Marie Bashkirtseff Prize (1952), Silver Medal of the City of Paris, Vermeil Medal of the City of Paris (1980).
The paintings of this artist are carefully worked and deeply considered; the highly refined texture bears witness to his work and sensitivity.
“La Place de Furstenberg” (oil on panel) is a fully accomplished example of his work, evoking all the poetry of Paris, with lavender blue in the grey-pink transparency of the winter sky, pearl-like clouds, still-wet pavements, and the misty silhouette of the buildings.
