Rare and remarkable set of antique botanical models made by Brendel, renowned for the excellence of his craftsmanship and the scientific precision of his creations. This set illustrates the reproductive structures and different phases of development of flowering plants, presented on an enlarged scale for educational purposes.
Each model is finely hand-painted and crafted from a variety of materials such as papier-mâché, wood and metal, then mounted on turned bases of blackened wood. The ensemble features detailed dissections of floral anatomy - stamens, pistils, capsules and germination phases - revealing male and female reproductive elements with great clarity.
Produced in Germany between the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Brendel models were intended for universities and scientific institutions, making the complete sets particularly sought-after today. The vivid colors, fine details and sculptural quality give these pieces a dual interest, both scientific and artistic. Note: with minor traces of use
