Large, finely chased and patinated bronze sculpture representing the classic subject of the Spinario (The Young Boy Removing a Thorn), based on the famous Greco-Roman prototype. The figure is shown seated on a naturalistic rock, his body bent forward in a moment of deep concentration, as he delicately removes a thorn from the sole of his foot. The pose, both natural and elegant, emphasizes the silent introspection and expressive restraint characteristic of the ancient model.

The anatomical modeling is executed with finesse, the smooth, polished surfaces contrasting harmoniously with the texture of the rocky base. The wavy hair, subtly defined musculature and downcast gaze testify to the timeless appeal of this composition, admired since antiquity as a study in youth and contemplation.

The Spinario remains one of the most emblematic subjects of ancient art, illustrating a simple, deeply human moment rather than a heroic or mythological scene. Its refined naturalism and timeless composition made it a particularly popular model during the Grand Tour period, when 19th-century collectors sought bronzes inspired by the masterpieces of Antiquity.
