Elephant clock in gilt and patinated bronze. The movement is surrounded by a foliage decoration that rises upward and connects to the back of the elephant with a lambrequin motif. The elephant is flanked by a snail and a dog, set on a Rocaille base. The anatomy of the elephant may appear unusual, particularly in the ears and feet, reflecting the limited visual sources available in the 18th century for representing such an animal.
Signed Cadier à Paris.
