Ferdinando Vichi (Italian, 1875–1945)
Carrara Bianco marble
This refined marble sculpture depicts Venus, the classical goddess of love and beauty, carved in luminous Carrara Bianco marble by the renowned Italian sculptor Ferdinando Vichi.
Vichi’s exceptional craftsmanship is evident in the softly modelled anatomy, the delicate facial expression, and the smooth, polished surface of the marble, which enhances its natural translucency. The harmonious proportions and balanced composition reflect the artist’s strong grounding in classical and academic traditions, inspired by Greco-Roman antiquity.
Ferdinando Vichi was celebrated for his refined mythological figures and neoclassical style, and this Venus is a fine example of his work. Elegant and timeless, the sculpture is well suited for both classical and contemporary interiors and represents an excellent collectible example of late 19th–early 20th century Italian marble sculpture.
