A small rectangular 18th-century casket, crafted in gilt bronze and decorated in the Louis XV style. The slightly domed lid is encircled by molded bands and features a surface decorated to resemble reptile skin, likely an inlay or surface treatment typical of luxury objects of this period. The front is dominated by a large, finely chased rocaille cartouche composed of asymmetrical volutes, scrolls, and foliate motifs characteristic of the Louis XV style. The corners are accentuated with small sculpted heads and ornaments, adding relief and elegance to the whole. The sides and back repeat the same textured decoration, framed by gilt moldings. The interior, also gilt, displays an old patina with traces of oxidation, attesting to its age and authenticity. This box, probably intended to hold small precious objects — jewelry, gloves, or writing accessories.
