Exceptional apothecary jar in porcelain, commissioned in China for the personal pharmacy of Tsar Peter the Great of Russia, circa 1700.
This cylindrical jar is decorated in famille verte enamels with the double-headed eagle surmounted by the Imperial Crown, its wings outspread and holding a sword and a sceptre in its talons. It forms part of a commission of which a few examples are preserved in the Kremlin Museum in Moscow, the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, as well as the State Historical Museum in Moscow.
