Stoneware bowl with crackled celadon glaze, incised floral decoration in the center and panels or petals on the exterior, old kintsugi repair on the rim.
Diameter 12.5 cm. Height 6.3 cm.
Condition: chips and an old crack on the rim repaired with kintsugi, wear and minor original firing imperfections, surface patina consistent with age.
Historically, Longquan kilns produced bowls of this type, with incised floral medallion decoration and petal-like walls, constituting a significant portion of their production. These bowls, crafted during the 15th-16th centuries, were considered models of simplicity for tea masters, retaining the softness of the glaze, the interplay of crackles, and the patina acquired through use. He is elevated to a different status by highlighting his injury.
