Bouttats was part of a group of artists who, in 1687, worked on the decoration of Troja Palace in Prague for Wenzel Albert, Count of Sternberg. Nineteen of his paintings were recorded in the inventory of Rychnov Castle in 1796. He likely worked for the ?ernín, Kolowrat, Gallas, and Sternberg families. The composition, which shows the influence of Melchior de Hondecoeter, is typical of Bouttats: almost exclusively, his known works are hunting scenes, often accompanied by a hunting dog.
