Description:
An exceptional circular sucrier with twin handles and its matching saucer, crafted in hard-paste porcelain by the Royal Sèvres Manufactory in 1824. Set against a rich purple ground, the piece features elegant gilt scrollwork and two finely painted grisaille cameos depicting Cicero and Demosthenes, framed in black medallions with star details.
The saucer is adorned with gilt laurel wreaths enclosing the names of prominent Enlightenment jurists and statesmen such as Malesherbes, Colbert, Daguesseau, and L’Hôpital. A radiant central rosette completes the design.
This neoclassical piece exemplifies the refined taste of the Bourbon Restoration and pays tribute to Antiquity and the values of the Enlightenment.
