Its finely carved decoration is adorned with hunting motifs, such as animals in the lower center: rabbits, poultry, and other birds. A quiver and bow are held behind them, and a net hangs above them. In the upper section are arrows forming a cross, with a rifle and a sheathed sword crossing four other arrows.
The spherical dial sits like a coat of arms surrounded by a frieze of tori and adorned on both sides with branches of oak leaves with acorns.
It is surmounted by a beautiful, finely crafted bouquet of flowers in high relief and a large, three-loop bow.
The dial, adorned with a compass rose in its center, indicates the time measurements—from fine weather to storms. It is signed in the lower part "par Frigez faubg st ant. Près la cour st Louis," indicating a Parisian work from the famous Faubourg Saint Antoine.
This barometer, impressive in size, retains its glass columns and period mechanism wheels, as well as its beautiful original gilding.
Exquisite Parisian work with fine chiseling and beautiful sculptures, from the Louis XVI period.
