Exceptional Set of Eight Ceramic Panels
Creil and Montereau Manufacture
Last Quarter of the 19th Century
Rare and remarkable set of eight glazed fine earthenware panels from the prestigious Creil and Montereau manufacture, dating from the last quarter of the 19th century. This is very likely a unique commissioned set, specially created for a Bordeaux residence, originally intended to adorn a winter garden.
Each panel is decorated with a refined and polychromatic design featuring birds and floral compositions, all different from one another, reflecting high-quality artistry and exceptional decorative richness. The set was designed to be displayed 80 cm from the ground, positioning the main scenes at eye level.
The panels, carefully dismantled, have the distinctive feature of never having been embedded in plaster, but were originally held in place by cabochons.
