Naval battle by Adam Silo (1674 - 1760), Holland circa 1720

Naval battle , oil on canvas size 30.5 cm x 40 cm , with wooden frame 51.5 cm x 61 cm , by Adam Silo , Holland circa 1720 .
Adam Silo was a Dutch painter born in Amsterdam on December 25, 1674 and died in the same city in 1760. He specialized in naval battle scenes, but also in whaling scenes. He also wrote art books and gave drawing lessons to Tsar Peter the Great.
This naval battle scene is undoubtedly an episode from the war between the British and the Dutch, probably from 1665 to 1667, when the Dutch won.
Works by Silo can also be found in the Rotterdam Maritime Museum and the Amsterdam Historical Museum.
