Directoire period portico clock

Very beautiful portico clock in chased and gilded bronze from the end of the 18th century.

It is made up of four amounts in a column with a capital, each supporting flowered vases on either side of the dial. The front vases, smaller, are with handles and flowered with roses and foliage. The rear vases, higher up, are richly flowered with flower buds, wheat and bunches of grapes. The dial, finely chiselled with stylized shapes in its center, is surrounded by a halo of alternating flowers. It is supported by a lyre symbol of lyric poetry and the pediment is openwork decorated with an abundantly flowered vase.

In the lower part, positioned under a lightly flowered garland, a centaur plays the double horn while a putti riding it plays the lyre. They are placed in front of the pendulum adorned with radiant glory.
They rest on a rectangular base ending in four spinning tops.
