The drinkers, workshop of Adriaen Brouwer, Flanders early 17th century

The drinkers, oil on wood panel, size 18,5 cm x 22,5 cm , with its frame 34 cm x 38 cm , workshop of Adriaen Brouwer
Adriaen Brouwer was born in Oudenaarde in 1605 and died in Antwerp on February 1, 1638.
He is specialized essentially in the painting of genre, but we owe him also landscapes and portraits. He was first a pupil of his father in Amsterdam in 1626, then in Harlem in 1628 in the studio of Frans Hals, then in 1631 in Antwerp where he was a member of the Guild of Saint Luke of this city. He had an eventful life, during which his freedom of morals and his interest in marginality occupied a central place. He liked the smoky pubs, the scenes of the peasant life, dances, card players, drinkers and scenes of fights
