Sicilian jasper & lapis lazuli pietra dura casket. Florence, late 17th cent

A fine ebony veneered pietra dura casket inset with ormolu framed panels of Sicilian jasper & lapis lazuli, within borders of black & white marbles. Raised on ormolu feet, the casket has a concealed latch to open & remove the compartment door.
