Allégory of history by Alfred Boucher 1850/1934

Large bronze statue known as "History" personified by a very beautiful young woman writing against a tree. Bronze period early 20th (old cast) around 1910, very beautiful state of presentation, dark green patina for the base and the tree, old gold for the young woman taking beautiful shades according to her lighting. Presence of the BOUCHER signature on the base. Referenced subject (p.246/247) in Jacques Piette's reasoned catalogue: Alfred Boucher (The Sculpted Work), the model chef being kept at the Fondation La Ruche-Seydoux in Paris.
Alfred Boucher 1850/1934 entered the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1869, a pupil of Paul Dubois, he completed his training with two stays in Italy, his talent was confirmed by important commissions from the state and numerous awards and distinctions: second prize in Rome in 1876, grand prize for sculpture at the 1900 World's Fair... in 1925 he was awarded the Grand Officer's Medal of the Legion of Honour.
