Offered by Jakob F. Müller Antiquitäten
A three-part Louis XVI style garniture de cheminée from the 19th century, comprising a mantel clock and two flanking vases executed in pink veined marble with mounts of gilt metal and patinated bronze. The rectangular drum case, resting on toupie feet, is framed by dark patinated sculptural figures of Flora and a putto, and is surmounted by cast gilt metal blossoms. The compositional execution of the Flora motif references 18th-century models by the Parisian bronzier François Vion, documented in the academic reference work by Ottomeyer and Pröschel. The enamel dial features Arabic numerals and pierced gilt brass hands. Both the movement and the case bear the stamps "SH Paris" and "AD MOUGIN Deux Medailles," attributing the mechanism to the Parisian clockmaker Adolphe Mougin. The ensemble exhibits an age-related patina across the metal and bronze surfaces.
