This painting by Robert Antoine Pinchon, executed around 1935, demonstrates the artist’s great technical skill. The harmony of the colours, always delicate, combines soft shades of blue and pink, which contrast with more powerful greens. The vigorous, rapidly applied brushstrokes reveal the mastery of an artist who had reached full maturity.
Vétheuil, a subject painted on numerous occasions by Claude Monet, is revisited here by the Rouen painter, who offers a highly personal interpretation of the landscape.
The works of both artists are also represented at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen, within the François Depeaux collection, whose owner held both painters in great admiration.
